Who We Are
SaveCCU has stood by the following principles, developed by the group during the first months of its organization:
SaveCCU Platform/Principles
Candidates are committed to maintaining Columbia Credit Union as a credit union -- a nonprofit cooperative financial institution that promotes "people helping people," and democratic principles.
1.
|
Candidates are committed to keeping our members as the key reason for Columbia Credit Union's existence and to protecting and promoting members' involvement and rights via: |
| |
1. |
Active and open recruitment of candidates for elected positions. |
| |
2. |
Removal of the petitioning requirements for all nominations. |
| |
3. |
Columbia Credit Union, Management, Board and Supervisors will not endorse any candidate in any membership election. |
| |
4. |
Balloting that is confidential and independently tabulated. |
| |
5. |
Any issue in front of the membership for a vote will be fairly balanced in all publications and information. |
| |
6. |
Members have the right to gather signatures on credit union property, without harassment, for petitions provided for under Columbia Credit Union's bylaws. (This has been extended to include communication relevant to credit union membership, including campaigning for candidates and communicating about issues being brought before the membership for their input and vote). |
| |
7. |
Candidates are committed to greater transparency and accountability of the board process and shall be guided by the spirit of the Washington State Open Public Meetings Act. |
What was important to SaveCCU members then continues to be important to us today, and is reflected in our commitment to continued advocacy of member-owner rights.
Columbia's members elected candidates who supported SaveCCU's platform in the Sept. 2004 and June 2005 elections.
